Video conferencing is an easy way to participate in conferences and
meetings without the inconvenience of travel. The SELF Board of Directors
uses video conferencing to conduct committee meetings and other SELF
business.
This
technology is also available to our members, other educational agencies
in the state and SELF's vendors. If there is a conflict in scheduling,
SELF's Board gets priority followed by the immediate members of the
program. Meetings utilizing video conferencing in the main conference
room are limited to 15 people; the small conference room can accommodate
meetings of up to five people.
The charge to use the equipment is $150 per hour. Users pay a minimum
one hour fee to use the video conference equipment. Users are charged
$75 for every additional half-hour. These rates apply only if SELF
initiates the video conference. If a user wishes to use the equipment
to receive a transmission, the charge is $50 per hour; $25 for every
additional half-hour. These types of transmissions are only received
in the small conference room. Transmissions can only be made within
California.
To reserve the video conference equipment, please do the following:
1) Call (866-453-5300) or e-mail
Lois Gormley to check room availability.
2) Complete the Use of Equipment form.
3) Fax completed equipment form and a Certificate of Insurance
Coverage to the SELF Office at 916-321-5311. Documents can also
be mailed to: SELF Office, Attn: Lois Gormley, 1531 I Street, Suite
300, Sacramento, CA 95814.
4) A deposit of $150 is required to hold the room and equipment.
Users will be billed for any additional time following the transmission.
Please make checks payable to Schools Excess Liability Fund.
To insure the highest quality of IP video conferencing, it is required that all endpoints meet minimum specifications for equipment, registration, and naming standards prior to participation in video conferencing.
The Minimum requirements are:
- H.323 version 2 compliant
- Video algorithm - H.263
- Audio algorithm - G.711
- Frame rate - 30 fps (frames per second)
- Video format - CIF
- Data rate - 384 bps (bits per second)
- Static IP address on a switched port network
