The SELF Board recently lost some valued members when their districts withdrew from the JPA. Area IV Board Member Larry Risinger resigned following the withdrawal of the Madera Unified District. His alternate Becky Slaughter , Executive Director of Central Region Schools Insurance Group, has been appointed to fill his position until the end of the term in June 2007. Resignations were also tendered by Southern California Community College Alternate Eloy Oakley and Area VI Alternate Herb Bartelt following withdrawal by their districts. Karla Rhay, Executive Director of Southern California Schools Risk Management JPA has been appointed to the vacant Area VI alternate position and the board anticipates filling the SCC Alternate position at its next meeting.

SELF has also recently welcomed Doug Brinkley and Thomas Kesey as the new Northern California Community College alternates. Brinkley is the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration for State Center Community College District and Kesey, who has served on the SELF Board in the past, is the Vice President of Administrative Services for Mendocino-Lake Community College District.
